National workshops for first aid instructors of the Polish Red Cross

74 participants from 15 regional branches of the Polish Red Cross took part in a training block on first aid.
We have completed nationwide workshops for first aid instructors of the Polish Red Cross. Instructors from across the country underwent specialized training covering topics such as:
safety – awareness of dangers at the scene, behavior in a crisis situation;
psychology – soft skills, working with groups, working with difficult trainees;
shock – practicing first aid in the event of shock, using an EpiPen;
childbirth – practicing on mannequins how to provide first aid in the event of childbirth;
bleeding – certified course 'Stop the bleed', ability to recognize and effectively manage massive bleeding.
All participants in the event completed the 'Stop the bleed' course and participated in two other workshops from the ones mentioned above, which they chose through a survey.
In addition to expanding knowledge and skills in first aid, instructors underwent PGI training. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss plans for the development of PCK's activities in the field of first aid education and training, changes in the First Aid System concerning, among others, instructor degrees and new materials for conducting courses and exchanging experiences between instructors from different branches.
The meeting was attended by PCK Main Board member Marcin Kowalski, deputy general director of PCK Anna Szczepanik, and members of the PCK First Aid Program Committee Adrianna Szczerba and Magdalena Michułka-Kuraś. A representative of IFRC Hleb Salauyou was also present at the workshops.

The tragic flood in September 2024 affected 238,000 people, destroyed nearly 12,000 buildings, and caused losses estimated at PLN 1.4 billion. A year later, the Polish Red Cross published a report summarizing the actions taken during and after the disaster.
