The doors of the Moomin house are always open to anyone who needs friendship and help. Likewise, the doors of the Polish Red Cross are wide open for anyone in a difficult situation. We will support such people together with the Polish publisher of the iconic series of Moomin books - Our Bookstore.
Tove Jansson started writing the first stories about the Moomins during the grim period of World War II. They were meant to be a warm, comforting fairy tale with a positive message. Exactly 80 years ago - in 1945, the story reached the hands of readers and quickly gained huge popularity. In the following years, more volumes dedicated to the adventures of the Moomins and their friends were published.
The Moomin family is known for its hospitality - their home is always open to those who need support and understanding. Despite the passage of time, the themes addressed in the book, such as disasters, separation, or the search for a new home, still resonate strongly with reality. A reality that the Polish Red Cross wants to change. The goals guiding the activities of the Red Cross are close to the Polish publisher of the Moomin series - Our Bookstore. Therefore, from each sold copy of the anniversary edition of 'Moomins,' 2 zł will go to our organization's account.

The volume of the Moomin saga, first published 80 years ago, was previously known in Poland under the title 'Little Trolls and the Big Flood.' In connection with the anniversary edition, it has been changed to 'Moomins and the Big Flood' to better capture the spirit of the entire series. In the anniversary, beautifully edited edition, readers will find not only the story itself but also unique extras: a foreword for the anniversary and unique character descriptions found in Tove Jansson's private notes. This is an extraordinary treat for every fan of the Moomin world.
The anniversary volume will go on sale on July 2. Its promotion took place during the 'Moomin' breakfast organized by Our Bookstore.

The special edition of the book 'Moomins and the Big Flood' is not the only action that the friendly creatures organize together with the Red Cross for those in need. 'Under the patronage' of the Moomins, a collection is conducted worldwide for organizations associated with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including the Polish Red Cross.
