Instead of lessons – a knowledge test and a presentation before the committee. Instead of a classroom – the stage of the national final.
Instead of an ordinary day – an adventure that inspires for a lifetime.

For 32 young finalists from all over Poland, this experience was the XXXII Health Olympiad of PCK with Biedronka, the final of which took place from May 23 to 25, 2025, in Łódź.

Education that transcends school boundaries

The Health Olympiad of PCK is not just a competition – it is a multi-month process of shaping health awareness and social attitudes among youth. This year's edition gathered an impressive number of 21,982 participants from all over Poland – including 12,813 students from upper secondary schools and 9,169 students from primary schools.

From four stages – school, district, regional, and national – the best of the best were selected. Their path to the final led through knowledge tests in the areas of health, mental hygiene, addiction prevention, nutrition, ecology, and conscious consumption. But theoretical knowledge is just the beginning.

During the final, participants solved a test containing 100 questions. In addition, the judging committee also evaluated descriptive works in which students presented health-promoting actions they had implemented – carried out in school or in the local community. The final classification was determined by the total number of points obtained from the test and the assessment of the project work.

Youth that acts and changes their environment

Each finalist prepared a health-promoting project, which they implemented in their local community. The theme of this year's edition was: “Alternative ways of nutrition and sports in the lives of children and youth.”. The projects addressed topics such as the impact of sugar on health, the connection between diet and concentration, the importance of physical activity in stress reduction, and the formation of healthy habits through educational and artistic activities.

Among the works were campaigns on social media, street happenings, workshops, and interactive health lessons. These were not just exercises – they were actions that genuinely changed social awareness and educated entire local communities.

Leaders of tomorrow – awards that inspire

In the primary school category, the winner was Julia Ładecka from Primary School No. 1 in Konin. Among upper secondary school students, the first place was awarded to Hubert Kowalski from II LO in Płońsk, who received an index for Medical University in Łódź.

Eight additional projects were also recognized, including the “Biedronka Hope” Awards – for the most innovative and impactful local actions. They went to:

  • Zofia Dobrzyńska for the project “Play Green – alternative choices on the plate” (primary school),

  • Izabela Kot for the project “From Senior to Junior – alternative nutrition methods in the lives of children and youth” (upper secondary school),

  • and Patrycja Pukas, who received a special commendation for the touching project “Anorexia – a kilogram from death.”

All finalists received valuable prizes and packages with nutritious products from the Biedronka offer – the strategic partner of the Olympiad.

Partnership with a social mission

For three years, the strategic and substantive partner of the Olympiad has been the Biedronka supermarket chain, which actively supports health education for children and youth as part of CSR activities. Thanks to this collaboration, it is possible to reach thousands of schools and students across Poland.

From conversations with participants, we know that the Olympiad changes their lives – some learn for the first time how nutrition affects well-being, others discover that they can genuinely influence their environment. That is the greatest value of this program.

explains Michał Mikołajczyk, member of the PCK Management Board.

In this Olympiad, something more than correct answers counts. What counts is engagement, creativity, and an authentic desire to influence the environment. This is a competition that not only teaches but also educates – supports young leaders, develops social competencies, and opens doors to the future.

“This year's edition demonstrated how broad and current knowledge students can exhibit, who not only participated in the substantive knowledge test, but also showed significant social sensitivity in their health-promoting projects”

emphasizes Agnieszka Koc, director of environmental protection and sustainable development at Biedronka.

For the participants, it was not just rivalry, but above all an adventure that will stay with them for years – an experience that may affect their further education, career path choices, and social attitudes.

The launch of the next XXXIII edition of the Olympiad is planned to begin with the school stage in November 2025.

We cordially invite students along with their guardians to participate.
