The passenger plane crashed in a densely wooded, hard-to-access area in Podkarpacie. Rescue Groups and Humanitarian Support Groups of the Polish Red Cross participated in the evacuation and rescue operations. Fortunately, this is just a drill.

The Rescue Groups and Humanitarian Support Groups of the Polish Red Cross participated in nationwide tactical-special exercises SAREX-25, organized by the Operational Command of the Armed Forces. During these exercises, the readiness of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, rescue services, and elements of the civil system for conducting joint search and rescue operations – both on land and at sea – was tested as part of the ASAR/SAR system.

In the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, a passenger plane disaster scenario was played out in a densely wooded, hard-to-access area. Two Rescue Groups of the Polish Red Cross: Przemyśl and Sandomierz, were dispatched to the scene, conducting search operations and providing qualified first aid in cooperation with the State Medical Rescue. The Humanitarian Support Group of the Polish Red Cross in Rzeszów provided psychological support to those slightly injured and created a recovery point for rescue services at the scene. Meanwhile, The Rescue Groups of the Polish Red Cross in Kielce and Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski were responsible for the characterization of the role players. Thanks to their skills, the realism of the exercises was elevated to a very high level.

The exercises covered the full spectrum of actions - from search and retrieval, through the evacuation of the injured, medical assistance in pre-hospital conditions, to transport and assistance in hospitals. This is another valuable experience that strengthens the competencies of the Rescue Groups and Humanitarian Support Groups of the Polish Red Cross and allows for the improvement of cooperation among all services within the state's security system.
