The Polish Red Cross has been writing pages of Polish history for over a hundred years, providing assistance to those in need and caring for the common good. Thanks to collaboration with the Social Archives Center, part of the priceless collections that had been accumulated in the Historical Cabinet of the PRC for years has been secured and made accessible. The project 'For Good. A Project for Securing Social Collections' was a unique initiative aimed at the protection and popularization of this heritage.

Project goal – protection and education
As part of the 'For Good' project, volunteers from the Polish Red Cross undertook the comprehensive organization, digitization, and securing of archival collections from the years 1914–1939. The work focused on documents such as photographs, statutes, reports, and other historical materials. The project had two main objectives: preserving historical resources for future generations and promoting knowledge about the activities of the Polish Red Cross.
Collections available online
One of the greatest successes of the project was making digitized materials available in the Open Archival System on the portal zbioryspołeczne.pl. As a result, anyone interested in history can now easily browse the PRC's resources. The publication of the collections in digital form not only allows for wide dissemination of knowledge about our organization’s activities but also protects delicate paper originals from destruction.
Collaboration and volunteer involvement
The realization of this project would not have been possible without the involvement of volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to organize archival documents. Their work was crucial to the success of the initiative. Thanks to their efforts, it was possible to not only secure materials but also create a digital record of history that will last for decades to come.
We invite you to explore our collections
We encourage everyone to visit the portal of the Social Archives Center and familiarize themselves with our collections. This is not only a unique opportunity to look into the past of the Polish Red Cross but also a chance to better understand how much our organization meant to Poland and its residents.
