Participants of the School Circle of the Polish Red Cross in Łabiszyn had the opportunity to take part in a summer camp in picturesque Kazimierz Dolny, as part of a public task implemented thanks to a grant supporting the activities of volunteers under the slogan “Actively and safely in the loess ravines”.

Fun combined with learning

The camp was not only an opportunity to rest but, above all, to acquire new skills, develop passions, and build a community based on the values of the Polish Red Cross. Each day brought new challenges and attractions that allowed participants to learn about the region, integrate, and learn by doing.

On the very first day, the youth set out on a walk around Kazimierz Dolny, visiting, among others, the Market Square, the Three Crosses Mountain, the so-called Wailing Wall, and the Vistula Boulevards. In the following days, it was time for a ferry trip to Janowiec, climbing to the observation tower, and walking around the castle hill. Activities related to climbing techniques were also organized, allowing participants to learn basic rope and knot techniques.

The program also included a visit to the Illusion Farm, relaxation at the swimming pool, and practical first aid classes, through which the youth were able to reinforce their skills and prepare for action in crisis situations. A lot of emotions were stirred by the outdoor game in Kazimierz, and even more so by the night tour of the town, the Jewish cemetery, and the Norowy Dół ravine.

There were also artistic workshops – participants learned the basics of weaving with wicker. There was also time for physical activity and integration games that naturally strengthened relationships within the group. A special moment was the all-day expedition through the loess ravines and the walk through the palace and park complex of the Czartoryski family. In the evening, a summarizing bonfire was organized, during which new members were officially welcomed into the School Circle of the Polish Red Cross.

The camp ended with a joint summary, awards, and gifts for the most engaged participants. It was a time full of joy, new experiences, inspiring conversations, and valuable lessons that will certainly bear fruit in the further volunteer activities of the youth.

Heartfelt thanks go to everyone who contributed to the organization and implementation of this unique trip. Thanks to our joint commitment, it was possible to create a space where young volunteers not only rested but also developed and acted for the benefit of others – just as befits members of the Polish Red Cross.
