Recognition of alarm signals, providing first aid, evacuation principles, or survival in conditions of prolonged threat – among these issues, the Polish Red Cross aims to train as many residents as possible. It has gained the authority to conduct training in the field of civil protection and civil defense. It hopes for cooperation with local governments.

The Polish Red Cross has officially been included in the group of entities authorized to conduct training in the field of civil protection and civil defense.

At this moment, we are the largest single entity that can conduct certified training in civil protection and civil defense on a large scale

– emphasizes Marcin Kowalski, a member of the PCK Management Board responsible for civil protection, rescue services, and responding to crises.

We will teach what to do in times of crisis

The goal of the training is to prepare individuals residing on the territory of the Republic of Poland for appropriate responses in situations of threats and to develop the ability to cooperate with civil protection authorities and civil protection entities.

During the training, which will be conducted by the Polish Red Cross, participants will learn about alarm signals and warning messages, principles of crisis communication and basic psychological first aid, gain knowledge about personal protective measures and shelters, as well as the principles of evacuating people, animals, and property. In addition, they will learn how to prepare for evacuation and survive in conditions of prolonged threat, as well as learn the basics of first aid.

Confirmation of high standards

The qualifications that PCK has obtained are the result of positive verification by the Fire Academy, which is mandatory for entities conducting training in civil protection and civil defense. This process guarantees that it has the appropriate staffing, educational, and organizational background, as well as experience in actions for the safety of citizens and building societal resilience to crisis situations.

The positive verification carried out by the Fire Academy confirms the high standards of our activities, the professionalism of the instructional staff, and the compliance of the conducted training with applicable regulations and programs

– notes Marcin Kowalski.

The Polish Red Cross meets all requirements specified in legal regulations, including the Act on civil protection and civil defense and the regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration regarding the training program for civil protection and civil defense and the requirements for entities conducting training.

Training by practitioners

Importantly, the training program developed by PCK has been designed to be understandable for both youth and seniors. We teach through practice and examples - without boredom and excessive theory - as the Polish Red Cross, we have practical experience related to the training topics gained during crisis operations in the field, e.g., in 2022 in Podkarpacie or during the flood in 2024.

Training in civil protection and civil defense for the population is intended for the "ordinary person". PCK can conduct it at the request of governors and local governments at various levels.
