Over 9 million Poles are over 60 years old, and this number is increasing every year. By 2050, seniors will make up more than 30% of society. The loneliness of seniors affects not only their mental condition but also their physical health, increasing the risk of heart disease and depression.

Loneliness is not only the absence of loved ones but also a sense of isolation and a lack of ability to actively participate in community life. Many seniors spend most of their time at home, often in front of the television, which only deepens their sense of exclusion. When does loneliness hit the hardest? According to seniors who participated in the PCK study, it is hardest in the evenings (40%) when contact with family is interrupted (40%).

The activities of the PCK Senior Clubs are made possible by the support of donors, including through the 'Not Yet' campaign, which aims to fund existing clubs and develop new ones. The campaign reminds that loneliness doesn't have to be a sentence, and every senior deserves a life full of community, activity, and a sense of purpose.

– Loneliness among seniors is a phenomenon that goes beyond statistics. It is a real social challenge that affects millions of people every day. When we listen to stories like Mrs. Jadwiga's, we see that the lack of companionship and activity not only robs people of joy in life but also affects their mental and physical health – emphasizes Michał Mikołajczyk. Everyone can get involved in this mission – through financial support, volunteering, or simply by caring about the fate of older people in their surroundings.

– Many seniors say directly: we need places where we can be together, develop our passions, and feel needed. That’s why the PCK Senior Clubs are so important – they are spaces that not only counteract isolation but also allow seniors to regain a sense of community and purpose. As a society, we must realize that the number of elderly people is increasing every year, and their needs are becoming more urgent. Therefore, every donation is not only support for seniors but also an investment in the future of all of us, because each of us will someday need that closeness and understanding – emphasizes Mikołajczyk.

Anyone who wants to support the activities of the Polish Red Cross for seniors can do so by making a payment to the account number: 25 1160 2202 0000 0006 3399 7689 or by donating any amount through the website jeszczetujestem.pl.
