first aid

Robert Lewandowski, Jan Bednarek, Jakub Kamiński, Kacper Urbański, Tymoteusz Puchacz and Wiktor Nowak - footballers of the Polish national team encourage learning first aid. The Polish Red Cross and the Polish Football Association launched the campaign "I Train - I Save."

"On the field, we know we cannot give up. Off the field, this principle can save someone's life" - we hear in the spot prepared jointly by PCK and PZPN. The best Polish footballers remind us of the basic rules of conduct in case of sudden cardiac arrest: "When someone does not breathe - act. Call 112. Remember: thirty compressions, two breaths." The spot ends with a simple call: "Don't stand aside. Learn first aid."

First aid is a skill worth training

The campaign "I Train - I Save" aims to show that first aid, just like sports, requires not only knowledge but above all breaking the fears of taking action. In a dangerous situation, anyone can find themselves in the role of a person on whom the health or life of another person will depend. At that moment, the first seconds and a decisive response count.

In the spot, the Polish national team players draw attention to the most important elements: recognizing the situation, calling for help, and starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The main message of the campaign is to encourage not to remain passive and to gain practical first aid skills. Hence the slogan "I Train - I Save."

On the field, we play as a team, and each player has their role. Life is the same. When something dangerous happens, we cannot wait for someone else to react. Sometimes the most important move is to provide first aid. Through the campaign "I Train - I Save" we want more and more people to have the knowledge, courage, and skills to make that move

– said Cezary Kulesza, President of the Polish Football Association.

First aid, like sports, requires training. It is important to know what to do and have the courage to do it. That is why we want to encourage as many people as possible to learn and practice first aid. Together with PZPN and representatives of Poland, we show that it is worth training not only to be better on the field but also to be ready to help another person

– emphasizes Michał Mikołajczyk, member of the Management Board of the Polish Red Cross.

As PZPN, we use the power and reach of football to speak about issues important to society as a whole. Together with the Polish Red Cross, we have launched the campaign "I Train - I Save" to show that first aid can be learned, and the most important thing is the readiness to act. Polish representatives who appeared in its spot also engaged in the campaign. This is a particularly important message for young people. Sport teaches not only competition but also responsibility, cooperation, and responding when someone needs help

– adds Łukasz Wachowski, General Secretary of PZPN.

Learning first aid also at stadiums

First aid can be learned through professional courses of the Polish Red Cross, but not only. During the upcoming national team matches, PCK stands will appear where fans can learn about and practice the basic rules of first aid.

The PCK stand was present during the match Poland - Bosnia and Herzegovina at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw. They will also be at the next matches: Poland - Romania (October 2, PGE National Stadium in Warsaw) and Poland - Sweden (November 17, Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław).

In reference to the European campaign

The PCK and PZPN campaign refers to the European initiative of UEFA and the European Resuscitation Council "Get Trained, Save Lives," which has been supported by, among others, Erling Haaland, Gareth Bale, Thierry Henry, Rio Ferdinand, Lautaro Martínez, and Ruud Gullit.

Both the Polish and European initiatives leverage the popularity of football and the commitment of athletes to deliver an important message to a wide audience. First aid is not just for professionals. It is a skill that anyone can need and that any of us can acquire.
